| THROUGH PARNERTSHIPS, HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WILL BUILD 10 MORE HOMES IN ITAPUA |
| Through a partnership with the Adventist Hospital in the city of Hohenau, Habitat for Humanity Paraguay will construct 10 more houses in the city of Jesus with support from the Interior Department of Itapúa and from the municipality of Jesus. They will be building homes for the families that live in extreme poverty. |
This initiative comes from the solidarity program entitled "Club de Salud" from the Adventist Hospital. The non-profit group "Dejando Huellas” or “Prints of Hope” is also a major partner as they are financing this build. The group originates from the United States.
Furthermore, the group will mobilize approximately 55 missionaries from the United States and Argentina. They all seek to improve the living conditions of families in the area. Because of this partnership, Habitat for Humanity Paraguay will complete house number 1,010 in the country.
To do its part, Habitat for Humanity will work all week in order to help construct the 10 homes in Itapúa. In total, there will be 31 International Volunteers, coming from Ireland, Canada, and Australia. All of the participants will be involved in the Habitat for Humanity International Global Village Program.
The selection of beneficiary families in the District of Jesus was made by a committee, formed through the partnerships. Out of the 26 families, 10 were selected and there is a possibility that 4 other families will be given assistance as well. They all live in a condition of over-crowdedness, where 7 to 11 members live in the same house. In several cases, the women are the heads of the households and they do not make the minimum income. As a result, they struggle to cover the basic needs of the family. Additionally, there are also several cases in which the members of the family suffer from some form of disability and need adequate living conditions in order to live a dignified life.
From July 3 to July 10, they will perform the construction of their houses with the support of many volunteers. A full house will be constructed within a week’s time. The big challenge of this build will be the fact that the 10 houses are scattered around the Municipality of Jesus, making it a challenge for both the families and the volunteers.
In addition to building houses, the Adventist Hospital will also provide free medical care, clothe over 1,000 children from the area, and conduct conferences in preventive medicine and Bible studies.
